Create shipping labels with an AI assistant
Tell your assistant the ship-from and ship-to addresses and parcel size. It can prepare a ShipWave checkout link and follow the purchase status. You review the details, certify the shipment, choose a live rate, and pay on ShipWave.
Connect an MCP-compatible assistant
Add this remote MCP server URL in your assistant’s connector settings:

Try ShipWave in ChatGPT
New to ShipWave? Create a personal shipping account with your name and email; a company is not required.
- Open ChatGPT Plugins and select Add → Create MCP App. If your account uses the older developer-mode interface, enable Developer mode in Settings → Security and login, then use the plus button in Plugins.
- Name the connection ShipWave, enter the MCP server URL above, and keep OAuth authentication selected. Review the connection notice, then sign in to ShipWave and approve only the two checkout permissions.
- Select ShipWave in a new conversation and describe the parcel you want to send.
- Use the shipping card to open your checkout. After payment, select Refresh status to see your purchase receipt and tracking number in the conversation.
Example: “Help me ship a 2 lb parcel in a 10 × 8 × 4 inch box from my New York address to my recipient in Boston.” Your assistant will ask for the full addresses before preparing the checkout.
This is a private custom connection. Public plugin directory availability requires a separate OpenAI submission and approval. Payment is completed on ShipWave.
What the assistant can do
- Prepare a US domestic, single-parcel checkout from addresses and package details you provide.
- Give you a private link to review and finish on ShipWave.
- Check whether the label was purchased and share its carrier, service, total, and tracking number.
The assistant cannot certify shipment contents, choose a live rate, authorize payment, or purchase postage. Rates appear after your certification on ShipWave.
For developers
The MCP endpoint uses Streamable HTTP and OAuth 2.1 with PKCE. The same checkout service also has an API-key REST interface: POST /api/v1/parcel-checkouts and GET /api/v1/parcel-checkouts/:id. Create an AI label checkout API key in ShipWave settings for server-to-server use. Use a stable clientRequestId on retries and keep the returned status credential private.
