Creating marketplace listings

How to create individual listings for products on your marketplace channels.

What is a listing?

A listing is a product offer on a marketplace channel. Each listing connects a Shopify product/variant to a specific channel (e.g., Amazon US). The listing stores:
  • Channel association: Which marketplace this listing is for
  • Product association: Which Shopify product and variant
  • Overrides: Optional customizations (title, description, price)
  • External IDs: The marketplace's listing ID and SKU (once pushed)
  • Status: Draft, pending, active, inactive, error, or suppressed

Creating a single listing

  1. Go to Admin → Marketplace → Listings
  2. Click New Listing
  3. Select the channel (e.g., Amazon US)
  4. Search for and select a product from your Shopify catalog
  5. Select which variant(s) to list (or "All variants")
  6. Review the listing preview—data is pulled from Shopify by default
  7. Optionally add overrides (custom title, description, price, etc.)
  8. Click Create Listing
The listing is created in "draft" status, ready to push to the marketplace.

Listing preview

Before creating, the preview shows exactly what will be sent to the marketplace:
  • Title: From Shopify (or template, or override)
  • Description: From Shopify (or template, or override)
  • Price: From Shopify after pricing rules applied
  • Images: From Shopify product
  • Inventory: From Shopify after buffer/floor applied
  • Category: From mapping or manual selection
Review this carefully before pushing.

Per-listing overrides

You can customize any field for a specific listing without affecting other channels or the Shopify source:
  • Title: Marketplace-optimized title (Amazon allows 200 chars, eBay allows 80)
  • Description: Platform-specific description with allowed HTML
  • Bullet points: Amazon/Walmart bullet features
  • Price: Fixed price override (bypasses pricing rules)
  • Category: Manual category selection
  • Attributes: Platform-specific attributes (brand, GTIN, etc.)
Overrides take priority over templates and Shopify data.

Listing from the product page

Alternatively, you can create listings from the product detail page:
  1. Go to Admin → Products and select a product
  2. Click the Marketplace tab
  3. You'll see existing listings and can create new ones for other channels
  4. Click List on [Channel] for each channel you want
This is convenient when you're focused on a specific product.

Multi-variant listings

Most marketplaces support parent-child relationships for variants:
  • Amazon: Parent listing with child ASINs (variations)
  • eBay: Multi-variation listing
  • Walmart: Variant groups
When you select "All variants" for a product, ShipWave creates a grouped listing structure where applicable.

FAQs

Can I create a listing without pushing it?
Yes. New listings are created in "draft" status. They won't appear on the marketplace until you push them.
What if I want different prices on different channels?
Use pricing rules per-channel, or set a per-listing price override. Per-listing overrides take the highest priority.
Can I list a product on multiple channels?
Yes. Create a separate listing for each channel. Each listing has independent settings and status.
How do I know which products aren't listed yet?
The Listings page has filters. Use "Not listed on [channel]" to see products that don't have a listing on a specific channel.
