Managing multiple channels

Best practices for managing multiple marketplace channels from one dashboard.

Organizing your channels

Use clear, descriptive names for each channel to keep them organized:
  • Include the marketplace: "Amazon US", "eBay Store", "Walmart"
  • Include region if applicable: "Amazon Canada", "Amazon Mexico"
  • Include account if you have multiple: "eBay - Brand A", "eBay - Brand B"
This makes it easy to identify channels at a glance in the dashboard.

Channel-specific settings

Each channel has independent settings. This lets you optimize for each marketplace:
  • Pricing rules: Set different markups for each marketplace based on fees and competition
  • Inventory buffers: Use larger buffers for marketplaces with strict overselling penalties (Amazon)
  • Templates: Create marketplace-optimized titles and descriptions
  • Category mappings: Map to each marketplace's specific taxonomy

Unified inventory management

Even with multiple channels, inventory is managed centrally:
  • Shopify is the single source of truth
  • Changes to Shopify inventory push to ALL active channels
  • Orders from ANY channel trigger cross-channel deduction
  • Each channel's buffer/floor settings are applied independently
This prevents overselling while letting you customize inventory display per-channel.

Cross-channel listings

The same Shopify product can be listed on multiple channels simultaneously. Each channel gets its own MarketplaceListing record with:
  • Independent overrides (title, description, price)
  • Independent status tracking
  • Independent sync history
Changes to the Shopify product propagate to all channels on the next sync.

Monitoring channel health

Keep an eye on each channel's health:
  • Status: Active, Paused, Error, Disconnected
  • Last sync times: When products, inventory, and orders last synced
  • Error messages: Any issues that need attention
  • Listing counts: Active, draft, and error listings per channel
The Channels dashboard shows all this at a glance.

Pausing and disconnecting channels

Pausing: Temporarily stops all sync activity. Listings remain on the marketplace but ShipWave won't update them. Useful for seasonal breaks or maintenance.

Disconnecting: Revokes ShipWave's access to the marketplace. Listings remain on the marketplace but are no longer managed by ShipWave. Use this when permanently stopping sales on a channel.

FAQs

Is there a limit to how many channels I can connect?
No. You can connect as many channels as you need. Many sellers connect 5-10+ channels across all supported marketplaces.
Can I copy settings from one channel to another?
Pricing rules and templates can be cloned between channels. Go to the source channel, select the rule/template, and use the "Clone to another channel" option.
How do I prioritize which channels get inventory?
Use inventory buffers strategically. Set a larger buffer on lower-priority channels to reserve more stock for your primary channels.
What happens if one channel has connection issues?
Other channels continue to work normally. The problematic channel will show an error status. Fix the issue and inventory will re-sync automatically.
