Understanding listing statuses
What each listing status means and how to handle status changes.
Draft
What to do: Review the listing, make any needed customizations, then push to the marketplace.
Pending
What to do: Wait. Most listings move to "active" within minutes to hours. Amazon can take up to 24 hours. If stuck in pending for more than 24 hours, check the marketplace seller portal for issues.
Active
What to do: Monitor performance. Keep inventory updated. Make optimizations as needed.
Inactive
- Manually deactivated by you
- Zero inventory
- Price set to $0
- Scheduled availability ended
What to do: Fix the underlying issue (restock inventory, set price, etc.) and the listing should reactivate. You may need to push an update.
Error
- Missing required fields (GTIN, brand, category)
- Validation failure (title too long, invalid price)
- Content policy violation
- Duplicate listing detected
What to do: Check the error message in the listing detail page. Fix the issue and push again.
Suppressed
- Missing product images
- Incomplete product information
- Policy violations
- Pricing errors
What to do: Check your Amazon Seller Central "Fix Stranded Inventory" or similar reports. Fix the issue and push an update.
