ShipWave Channels

Connecting eBay

Connect your eBay seller account to list products and manage orders.

Requirements

To connect eBay to ShipWave, you need:
  • An active eBay seller account – Personal or business account both work
  • Account in good standing – Suspended or restricted accounts cannot authorize third-party apps
  • Payment method on file – eBay requires a valid payment method for seller accounts

Step-by-step connection

  1. Go to Admin → Marketplace → Channels and click New Channel
  2. Select eBay as the platform
  3. Choose which Shopify store to use as the product source
  4. Name your channel (e.g., "eBay Store")

What ShipWave accesses

When you authorize ShipWave, you grant access to:
  • Inventory API – Create and manage listings
  • Trading API – Legacy API for additional listing features
  • Fulfillment API – Mark items as shipped and add tracking
  • Order API – Import orders from eBay
ShipWave does not access your eBay Payments information or account settings.

eBay listing formats

ShipWave creates fixed-price listings (Buy It Now) on eBay. Auction-style listings are not supported. All listings are created as "Good 'Til Cancelled" (GTC), meaning they automatically renew every 30 days until you end them or run out of inventory.

eBay item specifics

eBay categories require "item specifics" (attributes like brand, size, color, material). ShipWave automatically maps Shopify variant options to eBay item specifics where possible. For example:
  • Shopify "Size" option → eBay "Size" item specific
  • Shopify "Color" option → eBay "Color" item specific
You can also set item specifics manually per-listing or via category mapping defaults.

eBay shipping profiles

eBay listings require a shipping profile (domestic and international shipping options). You can:
  • Use your default eBay shipping profile (set in your eBay account)
  • Specify a shipping profile ID in the listing settings
  • Set handling time per-listing (1-30 business days)
Shipping costs are determined by your eBay profile, not by ShipWave.

Troubleshooting

Error: "Application not authorized"
  • Make sure you're signing into your eBay seller account, not a buyer-only account
  • Check that your account is in good standing
Error: "User token expired"
  • eBay tokens expire after 18 months. Reconnect the channel to refresh.
Listings not appearing
  • Check eBay's "Selling" tab for draft or error listings
  • Review the sync log in ShipWave for error details

FAQs

Does ShipWave support eBay auction listings?
No. ShipWave only creates fixed-price (Buy It Now) listings. If you need auction listings, create them directly in eBay.
Can I connect multiple eBay accounts?
Yes. Create a separate channel for each eBay account.
How do eBay fees work?
eBay fees (insertion fees, final value fees) are charged by eBay to your eBay account as usual. ShipWave does not add any additional fees for eBay listings.
Can I use eBay Promoted Listings?
Promoted Listings are managed directly in eBay Seller Hub. ShipWave creates the base listing, and you can then add it to Promoted Listings in eBay.
