eBay fees FAQ
- How much does eBay take from a sale?
- For most categories, eBay charges a 13.6% final value fee on the total amount of the sale up to $7,500 (2.35% on any amount above that), plus a per-order fee of $0.30 for orders of $10 or less or $0.40 above $10. The total includes the item price, shipping and sales tax.
- Does eBay charge fees on shipping and sales tax?
- Yes. The final value fee is calculated on the total amount the buyer pays, which includes shipping and handling and the sales tax eBay collects.
- Is it cheaper to sell with an eBay Store?
- A Basic or higher Store lowers the final value fee in many categories, for example to 12.7% for most categories and 9.35% for many electronics, but it has a monthly subscription. It usually pays off once you sell regularly.
- What are eBay’s fees for sneakers?
- Athletic shoes priced at $150 or more pay an 8% final value fee with no per-order fee (7% with a Store). Under $150, the standard most-categories rate applies.
- Are there extra eBay fees?
- Insertion fees apply after your free monthly listings, an international fee of 1.65% applies when the buyer is outside the US (unless you use eBay International Shipping), and sellers rated Below Standard pay an extra 6%. Optional listing upgrades and promoted listings cost extra.
- How can I lower my eBay shipping cost?
- Buy discounted labels instead of paying retail at the counter, and pack in the smallest box that fits to avoid dimensional weight. Compare carriers in ShipWave’s shipping calculator.
