Connecting WooCommerce to ShipWave Channels
Authorize your WooCommerce store, install the companion plugin, and import your catalog and orders.
Prepare your store
Your WooCommerce store must be accessible at its public HTTPS address with a valid certificate. A WordPress administrator must be able to install plugins and approve the connection. Give each sellable product variation a unique SKU. Stock updates require WooCommerce stock management for the products you want to publish. Ask your host to allow the WooCommerce REST API and ShipWave callbacks if a firewall blocks them.
Install the ShipWave companion plugin
Download the ShipWave Channels companion plugin. In WordPress, open Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the ZIP file, install it, and activate it. The companion supports marketplace order references, stock synchronization, and parcel tracking. When support supplies an updated ZIP, back up your store, upload the new package through WordPress, and use the replacement option if prompted.
Approve the connection in WooCommerce
Open Connect WooCommerce in ShipWave. Enter your WooCommerce store address, then select Approve in WooCommerce. Sign in to that store and review the permissions. Confirm that the app is ShipWave Channels and credentials will be shared with shipwave.app before approving. You will return to ShipWave when the connection succeeds. If the authorization expires, start a new connection attempt.
Alternative: use existing API keys
If hosted approval is unavailable, use the Use existing API keys option on the connection page. In WooCommerce, create a dedicated read/write key under Settings → Advanced → REST API for a user who can manage the store, then enter its consumer key and secret directly into ShipWave. Treat both values as passwords. Revoke the dedicated key in WooCommerce when you permanently remove the connection.
Import and review your store
Open the connected store in ShipWave. Choose Enable read-only sync, then Sync catalog and orders. Review the Catalog, Orders, and Listings tabs after the first catalog sync completes. Stock that is untracked, backordered, unsupported, or shared ambiguously is held from marketplace exposure. Correct duplicate or missing SKUs in WooCommerce before proceeding.
Enable marketplace updates and track parcels
Connect your marketplace seller accounts separately in ShipWave. Order mirrors, stock updates, and tracking are paused on a new store connection. During the rollout, contact support@shipwave.app to complete store verification before enabling these controls. Stop older connectors that write the same information first. For a parcel shipped outside ShipWave, enter its tracking and exact item quantities in the order's ShipWave panel in WooCommerce and save the order. Partial parcels keep the remaining quantities open.
Pause or disconnect
Use Pause sync and pause individual update controls before changing connectors. To permanently remove access, revoke the dedicated ShipWave REST API key in WooCommerce and deactivate the companion when it is no longer needed. Reauthorizing replaces the saved connection and requires verification again before updates resume.
FAQs
Do I need a WooCommerce.com account or Shopify?
No. This connector authorizes against your own WordPress and WooCommerce store. You need that store's administrator access and a ShipWave account.
Can I import products without the companion plugin?
Yes. The WooCommerce REST API can supply your catalog. The companion is required to enable the supported order, inventory, and tracking update workflows.
Why does approval request broad read/write permissions?
WooCommerce groups access into read, write, and read/write keys. ShipWave needs read/write access to register webhooks and support the optional update workflows. New connections keep those updates paused until verification and activation.
What if approval fails or no products appear?
Confirm the public store address, valid HTTPS certificate, REST API access, active WooCommerce installation, and current key permissions. Enable sync and request a catalog import. Contact support with the store address and visible error, without sharing passwords or API keys by email.
